NJSave Application
The NJSave application is a one-stop application for benefits and savings for New Jersey’s senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. Our Senior Save Navigators are available to help older adults and individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) fill out the application and start saving money on prescription drugs, hearing aids, property taxes and more. There is no cost for this assistance. Savings are based on an individual’s eligibility.
Our Senior Save Navigators will also screen participants for eligibility for Medicare Savings Programs, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
NJSave enrolls eligible participants in the following programs:
Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged & Disabled (PAAD)
PAAD provides coverage for prescribed legend drugs, insulin and insulin supplies, and needled and syringes for injectable medicines used for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The PAAD co-payment will be $5 for each PAAD covered generic drug prescription and $7 for each PAAD covered brand name drug prescription. PAAD beneficiaries may pay less for generic drugs if their Medicare prescription drug plan charges them less than the $5 PAAD co-payment for generics. Learn more here.
Senior Gold Prescription Discount Program
Senior Gold benefits help to make Medicare prescription drug coverage more affordable by reducing any other out-of-pocket costs associated with that coverage, such as deductibles, co-insurance, and the coverage gap known as the “donut hole.” Members receive assistance for prescribed legend drugs, insulin and insulin supplies. Learn more here.
Lifeline Utility Assistance
Lifeline is a utility assistance program for older adults and people with disabilities that offers a $225 annual benefit to persons who meet the PAAD eligibility requirements or who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This includes utility customers as well as tenants whose utility bills are included in their rent. Learn more here.
NJ Medicare Savings Programs
Medicare Savings Programs are federally funded programs managed by each state. These programs help people with limited income and assets pay for some (or all) of their Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) premiums, deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. Older adults and individuals with disabilities who are New Jersey residents who may not be eligible for full Medicaid may still have the option to enroll in a Medicare Savings Program. Learn more here.
Hearing Aid Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (HAAAD)
This program provides up to a $500 reimbursement to offset the purchase of a hearing aid; or up to a $1,000 reimbursement to offset the purchase of two hearing aids. Learn more here.
