Catholic Charities Merges Departments, Names Director
Catholic Charities Executive Director, Marlene Laó-Collins is pleased to announce Nancy Tompkins as the Director of Development and Marketing. Over the last 4 years, both departments have collaborated and integrated work to make a greater impact in philanthropy and in promoting our services to the various stakeholders. The change in leadership will enable Catholic Charities to streamline processes that will enhance our efforts in philanthropy, and provide support to service areas as well as county boards. We will seek to be more aggressive in targeted marketing of our agencies dynamic and effective programs while communicating the positive impact Catholic Charities has in renewing lives and restoring hope for 100,000 people annually, affected by trauma and adversity.
According to Marlene Laó-Collins, “Catholic Charities is thrilled that Nancy Tompkins has agreed to lead the department. She has been with Catholic Charities for six years as the Development Director and has done an excellent job of managing all aspects of the agency’s fundraising and development efforts; including the design and implementation of a comprehensive resource development strategy. The plan focuses on volunteer engagement, as well as to cultivate and steward donors to connect them to the impact of their philanthropy.”
Since joining the agency Nancy has been instrumental in diversifying the fundraising mix to include an integrated direct mail program, the addition of an Annual Giving Program as well as initiating planned giving strategies and initiatives. During her time here she has built excellent relationships with many of our donors, and has established strong relationships with members of the community.
Prior to joining Catholic Charities Nancy worked at Rutgers University for two and a half years providing leadership to the Stewardship and Gift Acknowledgement staff. Before Rutgers, Nancy worked at the Hunterdon County YMCA for twelve years – initially as the Director of Public Relations; earned a promotion to the Senior Director of Public Relations and Marketing and lastly moved into the role of Director of Development and Marketing. Additionally, Nancy has five years of corporate marketing experience both at ADP Corporate Headquarters and A.M. Best Company.
Nancy graduated from Seton Hall University with high honors earning an MBA in Marketing. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Maine, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Services – having worked in the social services field with at risk youth prior to attending graduate school.
Nancy has been an enthusiastic member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) for the past ten years as well as engaged in the Development and Communications group of Catholic Charities USA for the past six. She is also an active member of the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce, the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Mercer Employer Legislative Committee.
Please join me in congratulating Nancy Tompkins in her new role as Director of Development and Marketing.
