“Creating Trauma Informed Systems of Care in Mental Health Settings”

Trauma Informed GroupThis workshop will provide critical tools for mental health providers to assess the treatment needs of clients with mental illness presenting with trauma. Diagnosing trauma in adults with mental health disorders can be challenging. Post-traumatic stress disorder assessments and treatment are more complicated for providers who are working with clients with prior mental health disorders. This work shop will review best practice considerations for trauma informed assessments, cultural competency, clinical interventions and resources for providers who work with mentally ill communities.

Presenter: Julie Roebuck, LCSW is a graduate of New York University, a licensed clinical social worker and a divorce mediator. She has over twenty five years of experience working with a multiple types of traumas, including but not limited to domestic violence, sexual abuse, child fatalities, life threatening illnesses and developmental abandonment /neglect. Throughout her career she has developed multiple programs such as the Batterers Intervention and Assessment Center in Newark Court System, and the Morris County Sexual Assault Center in Morristown, New Jersey. Julie Roebuck, LCSW presently works with children, adolescents and adults. She also provides psychological evaluations for immigrants seeking asylum and other types of evaluations for the courts. She practices CBT, DBT and EMDR.
