Mercer Hub
STATEWIDE STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
The role of the New Jersey Statewide Student Support Services’ (NJ4S) Hub is to create and deliver prevention education programming that suits the needs of the community.
The Mercer Hub team works closely with schools, family success centers, and other community-based providers to make sure students in Mercer County have the mental health services they need to succeed and grow.
Three Tier System
Our team offers three tiers of services for students based on their behavioral and educational needs. Most of the services in each of the tiers are evidence-based.
Tier 1 — Universal Prevention Programming
The Hub provides webinars, assemblies, trainings and evidence-based interventions to the community at large. These efforts include workshops at libraries, community centers, family success centers/after school programs and summer camps.
Tier 2 — Targeted Evidence-Based Prevention
The Hub provides small group interventions at middle and high schools in Mercer County.
Tier 3 — Intensive
The Hub provides assessments and brief clinical interventions at middle and high schools in Mercer County.
Advisory Board
The Advisory Board is made up of Mercer County students, teachers and parents. Community advocates lead the team. The Board identifies the needs of the community and works together to get these services out. The Board also determined the Hub’s primary areas of focus:
- Mental health and wellness, including suicide prevention
- Anti-bullying and violence prevention
- Substance use prevention
Who Works on the Hub?
The Mercer Hub Team includes Scheduling Coordinators who are the first point of contact for answering general questions and booking services. There are Prevention Consultants who work with school districts and community service providers to help coordinate workshops, webinars and assemblies. Our Supervising Prevention Consulants plan school and community programs and Clinicians provide brief clinical services to students and families, both in person and via telehealth. Clinicians’ services are available before, during, and/or after school.
